Furosemide Injection IP is a potent "water pill" (loop diuretic) primarily used to rapidly remove excess fluid and salt from the body. It is typically reserved for emergency situations or for patients who cannot take oral medications.

Primary Uses

  • Acute Pulmonary Edema: Used as an adjunctive therapy for rapid relief of fluid buildup in the lungs, a critical medical emergency.
  • Edema (Swelling): Treats severe fluid retention caused by conditions like congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or kidney disorders (including nephrotic syndrome).
  • Hypertensive Emergencies: Used in clinical settings to rapidly lower dangerously high blood pressure.
  • High Blood Calcium: Helps lower severely elevated calcium levels, often combined with adequate fluid hydration.
